AE Template not importing to Premiere Pro using essential graphics

Running into a strange situation.   I produced some Lower Third text graphics in After Effects, and exported them as Motion Graphics Templates to use in Premiere's Essential Graphics. I saved these templates to the standard 'essential graphics' folder. Once I open these into premiere and drag them into a sequence the loading window gets stuck at 15% and a Motion Graphics Template Import Error comes up telling me that the template was created in After Effects, and that I need to install After Effects and retry. 

 

WTF?

 

I just made these in AE and I am running the latest version (14.2)

I am also on the latest PremierePro.

 

I have uninstalled and reinstalled both AE and Premiere thinking that maybe something in the user preferences got mixed up..

but the error still happens after re-installing.

 

What is going on?

 

System:

HP Z840  / Xeon E5-2620 / 80GB RAM

Running on a crappy Windows 7 SP 1

New 11.1.0 release causes bug in Tangent Ripple

I use the Lumetri Color Wheels page as my home grading page. When I cycle through the pages using the Ripple "B" button, all pages are fully displayed except for the Color Wheels page, which is minimized. When I click on the Lumetri panel to open the Color Wheels controls, the Ripple HUD jumps to Mode: Editing and I no longer have my map available. So, either I can see the Color Wheels controls, but have no access to them on the Ripple, or I can have the map, but not a visual on the Lumetri Color Wheels page.  This bug is doubly troublesome because of the existing bug where the Shadow, Midtone and Highlight levels on the Color Wheels page jump to the lowest extreme when a Knob control on the Ripple is used (for the first time on a clip) to adjust those levels.  If this happens inadvertently now, this new bug masks that event.  THAT is a bad thing!  Tangent TS assures that both these issues are Premiere-caused.

GoPro CFHD error in transcoding

I have GoPro CFHD avi files that I cannot transcode in either PP or AME.

 

The sequence Will transcode to H264 Only if I select an In and Out point in AME.

 

It will NOT transcode to H264 if I select entire sequence.

 

it will NOT transcode to H264 if there are 2 or more CFHD files in a sequence.

 

The files are fine.. They play well.. I can edit fine... They will individually transcode no problem in a Non Adobe program.

 

But I cannot export a sequence.. Well I can export and it seems to work until the end and then gives an error..

New Macbook Pro and CUDA question

I was looking at the requirements for Adobe Premiere Pro and it lists CUDA support for Intel Iris Graphics 540/550. That's listed under Windows.

 

Apple sells the new Macbook Pro with the touchbar with Intel Iris Graphics 550 and 540. Will it work with Cuda? I'm asking because the requirements on Adobe only list the 540 and 550 under CUDA for windows. But I think both a windows and mac use the same graphics cards

C100 Mkii mp4 audio splits between clips

How can I use this footage without putting it through Canon's Data Import Utility? Is there any way to do this without having to import right from the card? My footage has already been imported to my machine into an external yet it's looking like there is no way to stitch these clips together into one cohesive clip. This is incredibly unfortunate.

Update file paths when duplicating project

I manage a series of project templates at a post house. We’re all on macs, using exclusively Adobe products, all latest versions.

 

Each new project begins by duplicating the master template folder (in the Finder) that houses a deep hierarchy of assets, project files, and dynamic links. This master template folder is hosted on our shared server.

 

The goal: For editors to be able to duplicate, rename, and move a copy of the master template to a new location, and the new prproj automatically links to the new set of assets, rather than linking to the original assets, back on the server.

 

The Problem: every time the template is duplicated, renamed and moved, the prproj maintains its links to the server, rather than linking to the relative, new assets that were copied over with the project. My editors then open the project and everything appears to be linked up, but in fact the prproj is linking back to the server, not to their locally duped assets. The only workaround is to manually force assets offline and relink to the newly duped assets, establishing a new file path for Premiere.

 

Question: Is there a way to set up my prproj and/or my Finder hierarchy so that Premiere will see the assets’ relative location to the prproj, and will look to the nearby folders first, rather than always looking back to the absolute path of the original template?

 

I have a feeling that organizing my Finder folders in a different way might solve this problem... If assets are all above the prproj in the folder stack, rather than buried in other folders, etc.

 

Is there any solution here?!

Premiere crashes continuously after last update (CC 2017.1)

Hello,

 

Since last update, Premiere crashes easily. In a big project (with a lot of footage), For example, Premiere crashes when I'm importing any file, also one file alone (an jpg image, a mp3 audio...). In another little project, when I try to edit one clip lenght, Premiere have this error:

Before update, it worked fine. I already reinstalled Premiere, and doesn't work. What happen with last update?

 

  • Windows 10
  • RAM 16 GB
  • Nvidia GeForde GTX 970. Driver version 382.05

Selecting cuts in timeline for highlights video

I edit weddings.  After I finish editing the full wedding video I play fast forward the full wedding video sequence and choose cuts for the highlights.

Before I updated to premiere CC I used to do this aimply buy opening a new sequence(named 'selection for highlights') , opening my 'full video' sequence in source monitor and in source monitor -- fast forward, 'in,' out' ,'insert' . And every time I clicked insert me 'in to our selection' was copied to my 'selection for highlights' timeline.

 

Now that I updated to premiere CC . When I 'insert', my 'in out selection is copied as a 'nest' (when I click twice it opens my 'full video' sequence.

I want it to be regular clips on timeline..

 

How can I do this very basic and necessary thing ?

Or any other ideas for easy selection for highlights?

Edit clips with ExtendScript

hello you lovely people of this forum!

 

I desperately need to automate a big part of the editing process in Premiere. For the next project we will be recording tons of footage, where the main action will be repeating with variations many many times. We then need to split the long recordings into separate chunks. I will be able bring in time markers, for where to make the cuts.

But I've hit a wall when trying to manipulate clips on the timeline with ExtendScript. I can read a bunch of info about the clip, e.g.:

start

end

inPoint

outPoint

(all in both .seconds and .ticks)

But I'm unable to change any of those values. And the only functions I've found deal with selecting a clip i.e. isSelected() and setSelected()

 

Are there any ways to trim/cut/move, whatever, clips on the timeline using ExtedSctipt scripts, or am I badly out of luck?

And to finish off what I'm trying to do I'll need to do something like "Make Subsequence" with all of the cuts, again looking to automate this.

Impossible to open projects - Libraries' fault?

Hello,

We are a small team that works often on the same project file (same cc version 11.0.2) We have different hard drives where we mirror the assets and project files, but when we try to open the project from a hard drive\machine that is different than the original one the project was created on, we can't.

We get the dreaded error "The project contains a sequence\file\element that cannot be opened".

We tried everything, and then we tried to delete the library we were sharing from the Creative Cloud, and that seems to have solved the problem.
The project I couldn't open before now opens without problems, and all I have to do is relink the file and, of course, source those library assets from somewhere else.

BUT.
and that's a big but.
If anything from the library (contains logos, colour palette and assets for that client) was used in the project sequence, the file won't open, even if the library doesn't exist anymore.

We think that happens because when something in the library is used in the timeline, it gets downloaded into the Premiere Pro folder of the project and that's what prevents the project to open. We are not sure though!

This makes our archiving and backup process a nightmare, as we won't be able to open the projects from a backup drive unless we open every single project one by one and delete\replace the library assets used in the timeline.

A bit of food for thoughts for you guys, let me know if you experienced the same and if you found a definite solution

Can anyone help? Since updating premiere pro the last time it is unable to import the full audio and video files from .mov videos.

Default font settings for imported open captions

Hi,

 

sometimes I have Premiere projects with Dozens of SRT captions created by other company.

Srt files are just plain text files with text and timecode data,  so text formatting has to be done in Premiere if needed.

 

Currently there is no functionality to change font size/style to all open captions in Premiere -> select all is missing !

Meanwhile waiting that select all option, 

I'm just wondering  how could I change the default font settings for imported open captions ?

Now it seems to be  "Helvetica Light oblique 18" .

It is possible to change the position of open captions by using x & y values, but only within a limited area.

Is it possible move captions further to the border?

 

Furthermore: is it possible to move several captions along the timeline at once?

Hey Guys,

 

can yo please help me with this frustrating problem.

 

Premiere pro always makes the dynamic link offline when starting and crash when relinking. when I open first after effect with the effect then start premiere it will see it but when I have more than one file for effect then it can't see the other links. when I try to relink the program just freeze and doesn't even give me an error code or anything.

 

I've a Geforce GTX 880M

i7-4910MQ CPU @2.90GHz

32GB RAM

If need find timecode clipitem it's easy. Take TC source file and plus in and out tags.

But how made it if we have Time Remap?

Where can I find formulas for calculating TС In / Out?

Delayed artefact appearence

Ok, so this is a weird one that I haven't encountered before.

 

Rendered out a final version of a project for a client two weeks ago (h.264) and uploaded to Vimeo for sign off.

 

A half dozen people, including myself, and a team from the end client (so around ten people in total) all viewed the final version and all signed off on it. Job finished, all good, onto the next.

 

Fast forward two weeks and I recieve an urgent call from them saying something is wrong with the video, both the version on Vimeo AND the original export on their drives. I have a look and there are artefacts EVERYWHERE, giant flashing horizontal lines.

 

Does anyone have an explanation for this? Surely it's an issue with the original file but I've never encountered a "delay" before artefacts start appearing? I don't want to end up with a situation where I render out a new file and the same thing happens in two weeks time again...

I have a problem with the output of the project.

When I put up a psd, subtitle, or some other stuffs in layer, the video squeeze.

 

How could I solve this problem? I use Cs6, and the sequence is  1366 x 768. But it Squeeze even in 1920 x 1080. I don't know why this symptom is happening. Could somebody help me out?

 

I asked last this question, but I couldn't get the answer.

As You could see, the video squeezes a bit, and makes a black space. It's really annoying and if I use cross dissolve, some purple things show up at the space in the right. It really bothers me. Because of this I can't use any transitions.

adjusting mono channels on 2 different tracks simultaneously

This seems like a dumb question but I've become used to adjusting one channel on one track and then "paste attributes" for channel 2 on the other track. I'd like to easily adjust both at the same time...I figured "linking" would do this similar to FCP7, but doesn't work. Any quick shortcut for this?

I have Premiere Pro CS5 on Windows 10.  Is it possible for me to install Adobe Media Encoder on another machine to render my projects without consuming horsepower on my editing machine?
