Premier keeps crashing

$

I've installed the 2015's version and it didn't change anything.

I cannot open projects that I worked on, and when I open a new one it crashes as soon I create a sequence.

I'm using win10 newest update.

Recording SKY+ into Premiere Pro LOCKED DUPLICATE

Hi all,

I am about to purchaase a new PC, and wanted to know if I needed any hardware in order to transfer programs from my SKY+ HD Box into adobe premiere in order for me to then write it to DVDs to keep.

Or is it just a case of connecting the sky box to my PC via HDMI and premiere will automatically discover it.

I know I will have to manually play the program in order to record it into premiere.

Any advice greatly received.

Thanks,.

Richard

Codec for PC and round trip VFX work between Premiere and After Effects

$

Wondering what the best codec is for passing VFX work between Premiere and After Effects and also creating digital masters. Something that supports Alpha channel and 4444 color as well.

I work on a Mac in one office and QuickTime ProRes works well there. BUT, at my home office I have a PC workstation. And on PC the QuickTime ProRes codec is not available (at least to write to ProRes). I am wondering if the Avid DNxHD codecs are recommended or the GoPro Cineform codec?

Example of workflow is exporting a clip from the offline edit in Premiere, importing that clip in After Effects, doing the necessary VFX work, then exporting out the finished comp so it can be used in the online edit in Premiere and then the final color grade in Resolve. And then creating the final digital master file.

Since ProRes isn't viable on a PC, looking for suggestions on another recommended coded for this type of workflow. Thank you

Can´t do anything in Premiere Pro CC (2017)

Hey guys,

i hope everyone is understanding me, my english is not the best.

I just have the problem that I couldn´t do anything in premiere, except importing new files/clips.

It doesn´t matter if its an old or a new project.

To explain:

_When I try to mark some clips the sequenz is scrolling by itself to the end; I can´t short any clip

_I can´t move any clip in my sequenz

_can´t place a new clip/audio file in a sequence

I just tried to clean my Cookies and trash. I also uninstalled the whole creative suite (with all the presets) and made them new.

On another iMac everything is working fine, also with the same project files.

This is the hardware:

iMac, Version 10.11.6

processor: 4 GHz Intel Core i7

space: 32 GB 1867 MHz DDR3

graphic card: AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4096 MB

Can anyone help me with this? I can't think any further myself.

Thanks a lot guys,

kind regards

Vicky

Can't Break Apart Multicam Clip Anymore

I've used Premiere Pro and it's multicam feature for years now on a regular basis.

Today is the first day I've run into this problem. I double click the MultiCam clip in my sequence in order to break it apart and color correct each clip individually and adjust audio in the clip's own separate sequence, but now when i double click the clip nothing happens. I've tried searching forums, restarting the project and the computer but I'm not having any luck.

Import Footage choosing which bin media goes in

$

This may be a simple question but time after time I am unsure about where media goes on import or how to choose the default bin imported assets go using the Import menu item. I end up searching through the various open bins looking for the media I just imported. Like now, I have the project window open,  I have just imported a VO file. It's not in the project folder.  It ended up buried in a l bin that I wasn't even looking at. It took me a while to find that VO file. Time wasted.

You would think if I select a bin, or project and choose import, those files would be in that bin. Not so. Even If I use the contextual menu clicking right in the bin and choosing import. Doesn't go there.

I have a project with 30 bins so it's important to know where imported files go.

I know, I could just drag from finder into the open bin, or use media browser I know, I know.  But I'm a creature of habit, and sort of stuck using the import menu from many years of doing it that way.

So back to my question. How do I know which bin they are going to. There must be some logic here, and I'm leaning towards "The bin the last media was imported too".

So if you dragged footage from the finder to a bin last time, it will go there, even if you have another bin open and selected when you choose Import?

I may be missing something simple here, sorry. I just want to choose which bin it's going into before I import.  LOL.

Help with Export/Output settings (360 vid with motion graphics)

Hello anyone

I am having huge quality problems with exporting to h.264 from Premier and media encoder. (not mention the AE issues with h.264)

I have spent 2 full days sifting through the internet and have not be able to trouble shoot or solve this problem.

I can not for the life of me retain high quality images within the video after export. Lossless files have crisp edges. Export version has horrid jagged edges along shapes and text. Way more than usual. This does not happen when I export normal HD films at 1080p. See images below to see what I mean.

2017-05-08 16_27_31-GoPro VR Player - file____D__Austella_Hive_360 res test (SkyBox Output).mov.jpg2017-05-08 16_32_58-GoPro VR Player - file____D__Austella_Hive_360 res test (SkyBox Output).mov.jpg

Comp resolution 4096 x 2048

As you can see the difference in everything from colour to sharpness is pretty drastic, and I have no idea why.

Working on Windows 10 pc with latest version of Adobe After effects premier pro and media encoder.

I'm currently experimenting with 360 video and am trying to add motion graphics over some 360 video.

I am using the Mattel 360 Plug in to set up my comps in after effects.

The are rendered out as lossless files

I then compose everything in Premier and use Media encoder to port.

I have also exported the comp form AE to media encoder and I get the same results

Image below shows my export settings (media encoder)

2017-05-08 17_12_43-Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017 - D__Austella_Hive_Hive 360 test.prproj _.jpg

I ma completely stumped by this. I have seen many examples on line where everything is crisp and clear using the above settings.

If any  one can help that would be great. Otherwise this might be a unique problem I will have to face alone

Imported files don't import into my selected folder anymore

I have several sequences, each with several bins. The main project panel of files (NOT the Media Browser) is a giant list, many sublevels, so I have tabs for the most frequently used bins or the sequences I am currently working on. For example, for "Part 9" which is part of the whole project - I like to have a Part 9 panel open, with all it's bins, and a "Part 9 Titles" panel open because I make a lot of titles and graphics. When I have one of these bin tab open and active and I import a file into it using the keyboard "cmd I" or "cmd T" for title, the new file or title doesn't mport into the bin I have opened in the window. In the main project panel of files, the one with an endless list of bins, that file appears at the bottom, not in any bin. If I import files the same way with the main project bin active and select a bin while there, then it will import into the bin I have selected. Before this last Premiere update (this morning) I wasn't having this problem and there's no preference setting for this. PLEASE help. My workflow is about to include endless time scrolling through endless bins. I don't want to "search" for it, don't want to use the Media Browser.

Jerky playback

I'm cutting footage shot on an iphone 7 plus having converted the MOV files to M4v using handbrake, as suggested in this forum.

The playback however is mildly jerky. Is this inherent in the choice of file or in the software itself.? And would a different choice of file conversion be a better choice?

Thanks to all for the help so far

.scc Imported Caption Editing

Hello,

I have imported a .scc captioning file into my premiere pro CC 2017 timeline.  I want to batch change the font color, background as well as font style.  Is it possible to do this to the whole .scc file in this program.  ( I Know how to change the colors but what about the FONT specifically?)

Thanks!

PP won't show video clips when effects are added to adjustment layer

$

I have a 2015 Macbook Pro with 2.2ghz i7 and Intel Iris graphics card.  I've had PP CC for 3 years on this machine with no problems.  After updating to the latest version of PP, I now have an issue where as soon as I add effects to an adjustment layer, the video disappears from any and all video clips below that layer.  They won't show in the preview window and they won't render.

After chatting with support, we found a workaround by changing my renderer to software instead of Open CL.  However, my render times are horrible now.  What takes me 2 minutes in Open CL is now taking me 16 minutes in software.

How do we fix this or do I have to wait for Adobe to fix whatever they did in the last release with a new release?

Thanks,

Scott

  • Memory (RAM) - 4.00 GB (3.48 GB Usable)
  • 64-bit Operating System
  • Windows 7 Home Premium (Service Pack 1)

Premiere x Red Rocket-X

hey all looking for some help here.

I'm on a Late 2013 Mac Pro (3 GHz 8-Core x D700, MacOS 10.12.4) with a Red RocketX connected through thunderbolt 2 to Sonnet Echo Express. Adobe Premiere 2017.0.2.

I have about 2 TB of (mostly 6k, some off-speed) RED footage.... is there anyway to globally set Premiere to use the Red Rocket, as opposed to individually setting in the Source Monitor for each clip (as below)?

CAPTIONS PANEL PREMIERE 2017

Hey Guys:

I've been getting familiar with the CAPTIONS utility in the last update and now I need to finish a feature film and add cations. So I decided to use OPEN CAPTIONS. I've followed all the step by step online and I still can not get this work. Once I have the captions file on the timeline, and then open the captions panel, I can not type in text nor have the option (+ sign) to add text, not even a box to type manually. All is selected properly, but It just driving me crazy. Anyone with the same problem? Really annoying.

mixed footage outputting for festivals

With a  project that has half 1080p footage and half 720p footage, being produced for film festivals, which will produce better quality:

sequence at 1080p and upscale the 720 footage?

or

sequence at 720P and downscale the 1080 footage?

The screener will be dvd or bluray and the final output will be DCP. I have never output to DCP before.

I am asking here because I have gotten mixed answers elsewhere.

Premiere Pro CC 2017 Essential Graphics objects - cannot nudge with keyboard

$

I am attempting to create video titles with the new Essential Graphics feature. I have placed a title where I want it on my program monitor. I have turned on Safe Margins by right-clicking on the program monitor and selecting that option. I want to align the bottom of my title on the safe margin. (I know there is no Snap option for that, so I do it visually.) I want to do the same for all other credits that I have lined up, as I have several clips of credits that fade out/into each other over about 30 seconds. In the old method of creating titles, I could use my up and down arrow keys to Nudge these clips, so that I could easily and precisely (visually, anyway) line them all up on the same location. Now, creating these as Essential Graphics objects instead, when I try to Nudge them, I cannot do that; instead, Premiere assumes I want to go to the end or beginning of the clip in the Timeline and jumps there.

If Adobe is going to eventually do away with the old way of making Titles, I really, really need a way to keyboard-nudge Essential Graphics objects. And it would be really nice if Adobe could build in a way to create snap lines (horizontal or vertical) anywhere on the Program Monitor so that I could snap my objects to such lines consistently across time!

Issue with Adobe Premeire MXF export and Softel intergration

$

Hi,

We currently use Adobe Premiere CC 2015.4 for editing.  We export an MXF OP1a file to our ENPS, Dalet using the Dalet xtend extension tool.  We then add closed captioning by sending the MXF file and XSL script file to Softel Swift Vxt.  This process works for all clips except for files created in Adobe Premiere.

I have noticed when using mediainfo, the frame size is shown as 1080 x 1080.  It should be 1440 x1080.  When the clip is viewed in VLC it shows the correct frame size.  The clip also plays fine from our Omneon spectrum without issue, so the omneon is seeing the correct frame size.  But when the file is exported to softel, softel will not create the file.  It apparently is seeing the metadata error of 1080x1080.

I see this metadata issue even when I export an MXF directly from AP to my desktop.

1080x1080 3.PNG

And here are our export settings from Adobe Premiere

mxf export settings.PNG

Any thoughts on how this oddity can be resolved?

Regards,

Pat
